COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The Concept

Building a house for the poor
We work through communities to help families, living in inadequate shelter, to build and own simple but decent houses. Your team will be allocated to a house, where they may be required to, either: lay the foundation, erect the walls, fit the door and window frames, etc. You will spend the day in the township eating traditional ‘pap and wors’ with your hands for lunch, and learning all about how to build a house as a team.

If you are worried about your house not turning out to look like a house at the end of the day – fear not, there are qualified builders on site for assistance!

The impact of a day of Teambuilding for the Humanity of South Africa goes beyond housing, the programme also:
  • Promotes the development of a strong civil society,
  • Encourages volunteerism and local philanthropy,
  • Builds community, and
  • Breaks down barriers between people and promotes reconciliation and understanding.
