CAPE TOWN AMAZING RACE andTUNNELS

The Concept

This fantastic experience takes place at the tip of the African Continent, through the streets of Cape Town. Teams will need to navigate to various locations using GPS’s or cryptic clues and maps. Once at these locations teams will need to answer a question or collect certain items as proof. Included in the teams’ hunt will be places of historical interest and natural heritage of the area. This is a race against time, with teams trying to locate all the points before the cut off time. Teams will be penalised per minute for each minute they arrive after the cut off time.

Various modes of transport will be available for the teams to use but each mode may only be used once. Each team will be given a strict budget; bonus points will be awarded for the team that returns with the most unused budget.

Teams will have to decide on the best form of transport to the various locations. Transport may include a train, 2 man inflatable crocs, taxi, topless bus, water taxi or walking.

Tasks may include anything from finding a team mascot to venturing underground into Cape Town’s Storm water tunnels. The groups will find themselves navigating to an undisclosed entrance to an underground storm water channel. Entering the groups will find themselves in the oldest storm water drains in the country. Teams will exchange their trainers for gumboots and torches for this section of the Amazing Race.

All teams will eventually meet at their final destination where great celebrations will take place.
